Why & Who
The Rochester Music Hall of Fame (RMHF) began as a grassroots effort in the spring of 2009 and is currently awaiting its 501(c)(3) status.
There will be an annual induction from the broadest spectrum of musical styles and disciplines. Inductees will be announced annually, with an anticipated first induction ceremony in late 2010 or early 2011. The venue has not been decided upon as of yet; there are so many to choose from.
Additionally, beyond the annual inductions, RMHF has a goal of being a community resource for musical education and research. Plans are in the works to make visits to area schools and educate the students on the rich musical heritage of Rochester and the possibilities for those students to be a part of this tradition and explore their own musical potentials.
Eventually, either through a brick and mortar presence or through a mobile storage unit, RMHF will be a repository for awards, artifacts, memorabilia, displays, and information regarding inductees in particular and the musical heritage of Rochester in general.
RMHF is committed to providing a forum to spotlight local musical talent and to sponsor, promote or participate in local musical events and concerts.
